Groundhogs are at it again. They're building something big

I've kept a bag of pea gravel on my front porch for a while.  I keep it there to fill the holes the chipmunks dig under the porch.  You get this when there is a smorgasbord of food out there thanks to my neighbors who "love" animals.

Today, I go out to water the plants in the back and the groundhog has dragged the bag of gravel down to his hole.  I think I will go to the township at this point - perhaps to eradicate the animal or appeal for an increased assessment on his apparent home improvements.

Have nothing else to talk about? Try the weather.

Weather talk has dominated the conversation in these parts for about a week now.  Today, the mercury should raise to at least yesterday's new record for Reading, PA of 102 F.  Sure, that's pretty hot, but it is July and this area does get pretty warm.  That's just the way it is.

Behavior has certainly changed of late as a result of the higher temps.  Yesterday while headed home from work, even the state troopers and local police were selective in their endeavors to control traffic speeds along 422 East.  I sympathize with them, but they still have a job to do.  Perhaps they were taking a well-deserved break from the heat after tagging hundreds of speeders with citations.

Stay cool!
